Pictures from Mazfest 2011

A bunch of friends and I went down to Mazfest this weekend and had a great time! It’s an all Mazda gathering that was held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. Speed Ventures was also holding ah HPDE event and Autocross event at the same time so there was a lot going on with lots to see. The weather was hot but thankfully we kept cool under the Tanabe USA Tent. Here are some of the pictures that I took! Enjoy!

Sweet Juicy Melons…

VP brought us some ice cream bars to cool us off on a warm Friday afternoon. By the name on the label you’d think it was melon flavored but it’s actually strawberry flavored and oh so delicious! I thought it was JDM since it was bought from a Japanese market but it has Spanish writing on it too..  -__-

Thank you to the man upstairs!

The FD got a stiffy…

I installed a Tanabe Front Sway bar on my FD RX7 and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The car already has legendary handling but with the added front sway bar, the turn in and steering is even more responsive! The car takes turns much better and I feel as if it’s hugging the road better.  The install only took a few minutes and it was a direct replacement. It also came with new bushings to replace the OEM ones that are worn out and cracking. After a few weeks I’ll decide on if I want to add a rear sway bar to go with it. I can’t believe I didn’t take pics of the install itself but I’ll get some up soon. Here some pictures comparing the oem vs. the Tanabe one though.

Tanabe Rear SwayBar Install COMMENCE!

So I finally got my hands on the Tanabe Rear Sway-Bar for my Subaru.

Hitting myself on the head for this… why I never got this long time ago. Such a great product and great mod for my car. I highly recommend this.

So let’s start here… Order: From prepping to Install to Finish Install.

With my current suspension set up the car is more predictable and stable during hard turns. The rear slides out a bit (oversteer increase) which is what I was looking for. Knowing subaru they love to understeer. Also, during the turns, I find it easier to correct my mistakes. If you drive a subaru you know you have to apply throttle during the turn to catch traction. And yes, there is less body roll. I’ll have to balance the car with front sways. Which I will be doing soon =]

Oh and I wanna thank you two for helping with the install… you know who you are :3
