Boost leak?

My car (R32 GT-R) was feeling a little sluggish. Not to mention i heard a strange “whooshing” noise coming out whenever i stepped on the gas and the turbos kicked in. So I figured i would try to get to the bottom of it. So me and my friend took off the intake and airbox assembly. That involved taking the top MAF out and also disconnecting the other MAF as well. Then we took of the turbo inlet pipe for the primary turbo.

Then we connected an adapter pipe with an air hose connector to the intake piping side of the intercooler. The hotside on an RB26 is on the right, and the cold side (intake manifold) is on the left side of the motor.

We connected an air hose and pressurized the system to 15-20 psi and we found a boost/air leak coming from the connector/piping from the left intercooler endtank. Also found out that the endtank pipe had been warped somehow and that was aggravating the leak. Just by chance, as we raised the pressure inside the system the pipe blew off! So, i got new clamps and we re-tightened the whole system as a bandaid solution while i figure out the best way to stimulate the economy ;).

^ The culprit.

Every saturday morning, from 7 am – 10 am, various performance/exotic cars of all makes gather in Irvine at the Mazda/ford building to just hang out, chat cars and have a coffee or donuts. The parking lot is literally a melting pot of automotive diversity, and the car’s range from modified Mini coopers to resto-modified 1963 Chevrolet Corvettes to Ferrari Enzos. Japanese Snack Mascots

I noticed…

that a high percentage of Japanese snacks involve some awesome mascots. And you know what, most of them don’t even have anything to do with the product itself — they just look like fun characters. I’m not going to lie, whenever I see a bag of cheese puffs that has a Simpsons-style farmer on the front, I just can’t resist it!

I mean come on!

Tell me you can easily resist these snacks, and I’ll show you a person in denial! Some of the snacks have straight-up manga on them. Hey, it catches your attention right? Put any of these bags next to bag of Lay’s or Doritos, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

The snack at the bottom with the Green and Yellow bag contains delicious cheese-flavored puffs. The texture is light, like eating a cloud, BUT with a slight crispness to it. The mascot for this one is the delightful cheese farmer. He looks like he’s enjoying his cheese, doesn’t he? You will too. TRY THIS!

The orange caramel corn bag doesn’t necessarily feature a mascot on the bag. Instead, the character is the bag itself! — a clever twist. This snack presents a smooth, not-too-sweet caramel flavor in the form of finger-sized puffs. Like the cheese farmer’s puffs, these ones are also light and crisp, although they include a bit more flavor in the mix.

The Three “manga-bags” in the middle I have not tried. However, my guess is that the flavors inside are just as exciting as the artwork outside! One thing to note though, is the man with the confused look towards the egg. Why? What is the problem I wonder. Perhaps you must TRY THIS SNACK to find out!

The two mascots at the top are battling for the love of Takoyaki lovers around the world. Who’s snack would you rather eat — the one made by the pink squid chef to the left, or the one made by the stern Japanese cook on the right? It’s a toss-up. I don’t know. I might lean towards the pink squid — he looks like he knows what he’s doing.

I hope you enjoyed today’s review of some popular Japanese snacks. You can find these and MORE at your local Nijiya Market. (It’s where I took the pictures :p)
