GT Tow hooks from Nagisa Auto

Have you guys ever seen tow hooks that are protruding out from the the engine bay through a hood? Well these are GT style tow hooks and are mounted directly onto a strut tower. This give you another option to mount a tow hook in case you did not have a mounting option else where. Also, in the event that the front tow hook is not accessible because of a front end damage that may have occurred on the track.

Rywire’s E-AT Civic..#mindblown

This past weekend at the Spocom Show, I had a chance to take a look at the Rywire E-AT Civic. This was one car that really intrigued me. I’ve seen some pretty crazy stuff done with cars and this was one car that had me mind blown! At the end of the show, I got to talk to Ryan Basseri and even though the conversation was cut short for the awards ceremony, what he told me about the car made me want more! He did mention that the car was not done but this Motor is an ITR with individual throttle bodies. Now we’ve all seen that before but what’s interesting about this is that it’s running on a drive-by-wire throttle system. No throttle cable! Also, Ryan had told me that there are no fuses on the car. There was a unit (completely for got what’s it’s called) that sends voltage out to the appropriate sensors.

I probably regurgitated something wrong (there was so much going on that day) but I’d love to stop by his shop in the near future. It’s really amazing when you think about the engineering that went into thsi car. Well, I guess that’s why he won the Best Engineering Award at the the show!

SSR Wheels on Minkara

Remember CarDomain? For those of you who are a bit on the younger side – allow me to drop a little knowledge on how the automotive enthusiast community communicated in the early 2000’s. CarDomain was a website where you could make a profile, much like Facebook or Myspace – but instead of taking “selfies” with your lips positioned uncomfortably or sharing a Beiber song with your friends, you could create pages of information about your car. Obvious things such as the year, make and model aside, you could share all kinds of information about the car, how long you have owned it, what modifications you may have done to it, power output, etc. On top of that, a blog section was also available to document the work that you put into your car as well as the leisure time you spent with it. Although CarDomain isn’t nearly as popular as it once was – it’s still around (I actually checked), but if you think this type of website might appeal to you – check out Minkara, the Japanese counterpart. Although fundamentally similar to CarDomain, Minkara just offers infinitely better content for people like us – the cars are almost exclusively Japanese, the vast majority of parts are authentic, quality pieces that are also nice to look at. I’ve gathered several photos from Minkara for your viewing pleasure – to give you an idea of what you can expect to see, with the theme being “SSR Wheels”, check it out!

Spocom 2013 Coverage

This year there was a couple of events that landed on the same day here in Southern, California. In our previous post you might have seen our coverage of Mitsubishi Owner’s Day. Fortunately, that event occurred in the morning so heading to Spocom (Sport Compact) event later in the day wasn’t so difficult.

Held in Anaheim, this year’s Spocom event was a lot more crowded than last years event. It might be due to the fact that there are not as many events as last year. Many teams brought out tons of cars to represent their team for this competition. Car wise, the variety in make and the quality of build was there. The crowd seemed to enjoy the vendors that were there as well as the models. As for entertainment, there was also a dance team competition on the main stage and swimsuit competition. Spocom brought out the entertainment factor to those who showed and attended. Until next year!

Here is some coverage from this year’s Spocom event.

Mitsubishi Owner’s Day 2013

Saturday July 12, 2013 was Mitsubishi Owner’s Day at the Mitsubishi headquarters in Cypress, CA. There was a large attendance of EVO 8, 9, 10, and 3000GT’s at this morning event. Along with a portable dyno drawing a huge crowd for every dyno run, and In&Out food truck (yum!), there was much to be seen at MOD 2013. Here are our event coverage pictures (click ‘Read the rest of this entry’ to view the pictures):
