I am not really a big fan of bikes, but the sound of this bad boy got my attention when it was ridden up and down the street. Our neighbor got this 20 years old bike, with only 14k miles, sitting in their warehouse for long time and decided to start it up.

When it rains it pours
After last week’s FD post about the crossover pipe cracking, the clutch on my daily driver is worn out. After some searching around, I found a Stage 2 clutch for it. Champagne taste on a beer budget right?
Still searching for a few items for the FD though. Still haven’t found a decently priced crossover pipe nor the shocks/struts that I need to install my Tanabe GF210 that I have sitting in a box at Elite Auto Performance. Looking for Koni Sports(yellow) but nobody seeems to have a full set in stock. I would also like to get some Sway Bars and Razo shift knob for it in the near future too. What do you guys think?

TP Garage
This weekend, I went over to TP Garage to check out the 5-lug swap being done on this S13. 5-lug swap isn’t super difficult, but it takes a while. You know that feeling when… you’re working on a car, and you think you’re almost done… but slowly you see the sun start to set? Yeah… I hate that feeling too. 😉
TP Slave gets back to work before the home owners’ association sends the troops.
Gotta get rid of these super sunk battleship wheels.
That’s more like it! 🙂 Just a little bit of poke that can be cured by a little bit of camber. That’s what’s up!
Later that night, I headed over to Irwindale Speedway to check out the V8 power-sliding event. As you can see, I got the back seat of the back seat. I was behind the gate which was behind the grandstand, which was behind the grandstand in front of it. Epic binocular view.
Go Tanner.
On a side-note, I’d like everyone to please pray for the TP Garage official plant mascot.
As you can see, the mascot has been reduced to a stick holding up another stick. I’m not even sure which one is the plant and which one is the brace. I read somewhere that one of the “rules” of feng shui is to have some plants in your room. It creates an environment of good energy and such (or something like that). Does it apply to sticks?

The FD leaks..
Found out I have a crack in my Crossover Pipe on my Rx7. I have a crack in it and it needs to be replaced ASAP because it’s feels so sluggish now when I step on it. Why they would make a pipe that takes hot turine air to the intercooler in plastic is beyond me. Combine that with a 16 year old car and you have yourself a mighty fine boost leak. Might as well get the JDM Efini one (metal) but it’s $250… what am I to do?

For those who have not seen this yet… SSR wheels are now in car town. So change out those boring wheels you have and switch it to SSR!
My personal favorite? The Gold Type F and the MK3 … Just goes so well with all the cars.

Wakita-san said It’s OK!
It’s been practically 2 years since I had my engine changed. And since then, I haven’t been upgrading it at all. I’ve just been maintaining it while I help my credit card recover from its injury. (u_u) So, fast forward many moons, and I’m wondering how the condition of the engine is. Over the weekend, I decided to pay a visit to Wakita-san for a little leak-down testing. Why did I decide to get a leak-down test? Well, the car itself drives fine — the motor basically feels perfect to me. But I wanted to have it inspected before I decide to do a few fast-mods to it. (^_^) There’s no sense in modding the engine if it’s going to cause it to blow up the next day. Then my side pocket will REALLYbe hurting (-_-)”‘
So, good news! The leak-down test said I had about 7% leak in one cylinder, 10% in another two, and around 20% in the final one. Not bad for a used engine… The 20% leak didn’t sound so good to me, but Wakita-san said it was decent enough to throw a few small mods at while I save up for an upgrade rebuild in the future. Compression was a little low as well, but not bad!
Good news indeed! So, what’s next? Maybe a bigger interfooler? Maybe I can finally have that 4.3 final drive installed? A SARD coolant breather would be a nice thing to have… But then I’d have to replace my stock clutch-fan with electric ones to free up some room in the engine bay. Anyways… stay tuned for my next pay check and we’ll see what happens! LOL! 😉
On a side-note, I’d just like to say that gifting your car some money is almost always money well-spent… as long as you buy good parts. I drive my car every day, and I’m constantly reminded that everything I’ve given to the Emerald Weapon was worth it. Boo yah! LoL
Big thanks to Wakita-san and Andrew for helping me out on the weekend. Let this be a lesson to you other shops! Open on Saturdays because it’s the only time us normal working people can make it over! :p
