My car (R32 GT-R) was feeling a little sluggish. Not to mention i heard a strange “whooshing” noise coming out whenever i stepped on the gas and the turbos kicked in. So I figured i would try to get to the bottom of it. So me and my friend took off the intake and airbox assembly. That involved taking the top MAF out and also disconnecting the other MAF as well. Then we took of the turbo inlet pipe for the primary turbo.
Then we connected an adapter pipe with an air hose connector to the intake piping side of the intercooler. The hotside on an RB26 is on the right, and the cold side (intake manifold) is on the left side of the motor.
We connected an air hose and pressurized the system to 15-20 psi and we found a boost/air leak coming from the connector/piping from the left intercooler endtank. Also found out that the endtank pipe had been warped somehow and that was aggravating the leak. Just by chance, as we raised the pressure inside the system the pipe blew off! So, i got new clamps and we re-tightened the whole system as a bandaid solution while i figure out the best way to stimulate the economy ;).
